Jeremy Korman, MD, FACS
Jeremy Korman, M.D., is a certified and award-winning provider of weight-loss surgery and the medical director of Marina Del Rey Hospital’s weight loss center. He has treated more than two thousand patients during his Bariatric surgery career, and his greatest passion is helping them achieve better health, better fitness, and better lives.
Dr. Korman specializes in Bariatric procedures for weight loss. Dr. Korman is an active member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, American College of Surgeons, and Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons.
Dr. Korman received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Cornell University and his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He completed his general surgery residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Korman was fellowship trained in laparoscopic general surgery at Cedars Sinai Medical Center and completed an additional fellowship in Bariatric surgery. He is currently the medical director of the Bariatric program at Marina Del Rey Hospital serving the Los Angeles area.
Mona Misra, MD, FACS
Dr. Mona Misra is a highly experienced and skilled Bariatric and advanced laparoscopic surgeon. Dr. Misra has performed more than 5,000 Bariatric, advanced laparoscopic and endoscopic surgical procedures. Additionally, Dr. Misra is an expert clinical site reviewer for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program. She has presented research findings at numerous national and international meetings on advanced laparoscopic techniques and metabolic surgery.
Dr. Misra earned her formal education at the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan, and her surgical residency training at McMaster University-Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She also received intensive fellowship training in advanced, minimally invasive and weight loss surgery at the world famous Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Misra’s strong belief that each patient is an individual and that some procedures are better suited to address a patient’s needs than others, inspired her to establish an innovative path for healthcare in Canada. Dr. Misra served as the director and co-founder of the first private, comprehensive multidisciplinary outpatient weight loss program in Canada. Her clinic provided surgical, medical, psychological, nutritional, and fitness programs all in a single, free-standing center, designed and built specifically to address the special needs of the Bariatric patient. Dr. Misra will always be known as a pioneer in Canadian Bariatric surgery.
Dr. Misra provides her patients access to the most advanced and highly specialized techniques to treat their disease of obesity in Southern California. Dr. Misra places great emphasis on treating the individual patient. She understands that obesity is a complex disease and each patient may need something different at each visit to help them achieve their goals safely and permanently.
She prides herself in providing compassionate, individualized care. Dr. Misra always gives her undivided attention and takes the time to truly listen to her patients, a trait that is so rarely found in busy surgeons today. She takes the time to explain everything to her patients, in plain English, making them feel special and comfortable with the process that will change and improve their lives forever.

SERGEY LYASS, MD,
Dr. Lyass received his medical degree from the Moscow Medical University in 1985. He served his internship and residency in General Surgery at the Department of Surgery at the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, Israel, and then followed up with a senior residency at the Department of Surgery at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Lyass completed his training at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, as a senior surgical resident and then chief surgical resident in the Department of Surgery.
Following his extended residency training, Dr. Lyass completed a clinical fellowship as well as a research fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Cedars-Sinai’s Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA.
Board certified in General Surgery, Dr. Lyass is the author of more than 100 papers in peer reviewed journals and presentations on Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery.
Dr. Lyass is committed to the advancement of Robotic and Laparoscopic Bariatric surgery techniques and the exceptional treatment of the Bariatric population. Dr. Lyass is an expert in Robotic and Laparoscopic Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery and he is specialized in performing Laparoscopic Gastric Banding, Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy and Revisional Surgery for previously failed weight loss procedures using Robotic and Conventional technique.
His clinical expertise extends well beyond weight loss surgery. Dr. Lyass routinely performs Laparoscopic Foregut and Colon surgery, repair of the abdominal wall hernias using minimally invasive technique, laparoscopic spleen, pancreas and adrenal procedures.
