In 2003, Scott Loughran had Roux-En Y Gastric Bypass. His starting weight was 403.5 pounds and today, nearly 15 years later, Scott is maintaining a healthy weight of 231.5 pounds!
As with anyone making a life-changing decision such as this, Scott faced many challenges, but with hard work he reached his goal! Here, Scott shares his journey with us, as well as some advice for those considering bariatric surgery.

I enjoy being healthy and want to continue be as long as possible.
What is your favorite quick, go-to healthy meal?
Trader Joe’s wraps & salads are good. For breakfast Hummus & Naan with coffee
What advice would you give to those considering weight loss surgery?
You have to commit to changing your lifestyle. Changing your attitude towards your relationship with food. There is a lot of work involved in making it work.
What was the craziest diet you tried before your surgery?
Probably The Grape Juice Diet
What was the best/worst advice you ever received about dieting?
Best: There is only one formula for weight loss.: eat less & exercise more
Worst: “You don’t need to exercise – diet is enough.”
What would you tell your former self now if you could?
It’s easier than you think, and once you get it done women will talk to you.
