John M. Kennedy, M.D. — Cardiology

Cardiologist John M. Kennedy, M.D., is at the heart of LA Bariatrics’ team of weight loss doctors. He works with weight loss surgeon Dr. Jeremy Korman and plastic surgeon David Stoker to work with patients for great weight loss and health results.

Dr. Kennedy is Marina Del Rey Hospital’s director of preventive cardiology and wellness. He sits on the American Heart Association’s board of directors and co-wrote “The 15 Minute Heart Cure: The Natural Way to Release Stress and Heal Your Heart in Just Minutes A Day.” Dr. Kennedy has also provided his expertise as a guest professional on the television programs The Doctors, The Dr. Oz Show and ABC World News with Diane Sawyer.

His chief interest is the effect of stress on the human cardiovascular system, and he gives lectures and educates corporate employees on stress management. He is a board certified heart surgeon. While performing heart surgery, he has seen first hand the damage that excess weight can do to the human cardiovascular system, and his mission is to help his patients avoid it.

Because obesity is one of the most important preventable causes of heart disease and stressors on the body, he works with LA Bariatrics to help its patients achieve better health, as well. He supports patients who have undergone gastric bypass, lap band, gastric sleeve, gastric plication, and revision procedures, helping ensure that their weight loss efforts are reflected in improved cardiovascular health.

Dr. Kennedy’s qualifications

Dr. Kennedy received his bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and his medical degree from the Dartmouth-Brown Program in Medicine. He completed his cardiology fellowship at UCLA-Harbor.
